Welcome to the wondrous world of Oberpfaffelbachen the greatest town in history. We will tell you how and when we were conceived a little later but first we will show you some fabulous films about our village. These films hint at the secret of our fictional town, more of which later.
Some say our little village was a gimmick but we think the town is much more than that, we are an ideal. We are what towns should be, full of beautiful scenery and hope. Hope and ambition to be part of something that will change our towns history forever. Collective wisdom has it that oberpfaffelbachen was merely an idea to promote BMW’s latest vehicle but we loved it so much we are paying homage to the great town. The original concept was for this to be a video that went viral and it succeeded to a degree with Jeff Schultz doing a fake mocumentary on the town and its events. The town got such a following that there was merchandise to buy including caps, T Shirts and shirts. Personally we could not get enough of oberpfaffelbachen so we continue to pay homage, in fact I have elected myself as head of the town’s PR department. The ramp may not have worked but my campaign will. Very soon the town will be crammed full of fictional tourists all buying the local wares and finally putting the town on the fictional map. You wait and see, you won’t be able to move without hearing about oberpfaffelbachen. A bit of the back story first. Our mayor (fictional mayor of course) and some other prominent Bavarian business people decided to start a festival called rampenfest which would be our towns version of octoberfest but with much less beer and noise it would also provide some form of debt solutions for the town. After all we are a quiet family town. We decided to build a giant ramp that would launch cars across the Atlantic to the united states. This would also be the launching point (literally and figuratively) for BMW’s new 1 series. This would be so successful that people from all over the globe would visit our town for the rampenfest every year, making it the biggest festival in the world. Our earliest celebrity was the local farmer (featured in the video above) who had allowed the ramp to be built on his land. Like many locals he was in a traditional Bavarian occupation, farming. But as you can see this is not something he was particularly fond of. But like many locals he has a keen business mind that even Donald Trump would be proud of, so his scheme was to use his farming land as car parking during the festival. This would allow him to give up farming and pursue his great passion miss oberpfaffelbachen. Although the festival did not go as planned the farmer has another plan to create a Bavarian Disney world but with classical Bavarian folk heroes instead of mickey mouse. You certainly can’t keep oberpfaffelbachen folk down.
The second video gives you a little history of the ramp itself and our brave locals who conceived the idea. Many people thought the idea was crazy, we just think it was ahead of it’s time. It’s time will come. The concept was, as we have said, to build a gigantic ramp to launch a car across the atlantic to america. A grand idea for a grand town, as we state on the video it’s the genius idea of the century, one of the nine wonders of the universe. As you can see the whole town got behind the idea and set about making it a great spectacle with many celebratory products being made in traditional Bavarian ways from cream cakes to traditional pastries all in the shape of the great ramp. Many of the towns folk invested their life savings in the ramp or products related to the ramp, that is how proud we all were of the idea, every man, woman and child. We realised in the modern world you need modern ideas to drive you forward, old bavarian ideals and agriculture will only get you so far. The ramp would make the ramp rich as our unofficial launch of the bmw one series across to america would great huge publicity for bmw and the corporation would be so pleased they would pay the town a huge amount of money. In the video you will see the town folk drinking traditional bavarian beer which is part of our culture. We have an equally brilliant idea about this beer but more of that next time. It is true that not quite everyone enjoyed the atmosphere that the ramp caused, there was one objector from the local police but he has now been run out of office so he cannot get in the way of future projects. You see how he spoilt our commercial project, he was jealous. The technology and wings we developed are truly groundbreaking (many said the ground would break the car but this was not true) and we are confident we will be able to sell this technology to Nasa in the near future which will recoup our investment, make the town rich and put us firmly on the map. Our engineering os amazing Olaf who was in charge of the technology once visited cape Canaveral so he has lots of knowledge on this kind of stuff. Now our plan may have been foiled but the ramp will last forever and we are looking at other ways to use it. We have applied for the winter olympics as we believe our ramp can be used in many different sporting events. Some people have lost faith in the ramp but this is temporary our towns folk will not be beaten, we have created something epic and it will be remembered for generations. Come visit our extra ordinary town and see what we have achieved, we are on the cusp of greatness. We shall come again so look out for more great ideas from us.
